Microsoft Security Essentials（MSE） のベータテストが開始されました。
現段階で利用出来るのは、英語、中国語（簡体字）など一部の言語と地域の方のみのようです。
なぜわざわざMSEについて取り上げたかというと、今回のベータ版はWHS V1／Vailの両方で動作するようようになっているからです。これが正式版になっても同様にWHSで動作するのか、それともベータ版なのでインストール制約がないのかは現時点で不明です。

ベータプログラムにはMicrosoft ConnectからMicrosoft Security Essentialsに申込むことで参加出来ます。
早速英語版（32bit）ベータを日本語版のWHS V1にインストールしてみました。特に問題なく動いています。
次いで英語版（64bit）ベータを 日本語版のVailにインストールしてみました。
全く問題なくインストールが完了しました。
調子に乗って、Windows Server 2008 R2 にもインストールしてみました…。普通にインストール完了しました。
マイクロソフトがMSEに対するポリシーを変更したのか、今回のベータビルドは対象OSのチェックが甘い（もしくは全くチェックしていない）のかのいずれかだとは思うのですが、Windows Server 2008 R2 でもインストール出来たところをみると個人的には後者のほうではないかと思います。
従って、今後公開される正式ビルドがWHS V1やVailで利用出来ると判断するのは時期尚早のような気がしています。
